VEGAS
Initially, there were 4 of us who booked for the 23rd June but now there's 6 in our group, some others will turn up on the 25th, my folks, sister and her boyf turn up on the 30th and I've just found out that there's 8 strong coming from Bolton (who are on the same flight as us!). It's going to be a heavy fortnight and maybe longer if we qualify for the biggy.
Here's a few links for tourneys that are on through June/July while we're there. You can look up the schedules and find results/info etc...
Caesars Palace Mega Stack Series
Binion Classic IV
Golden Nugget Grand Series
The Inaugural 2010 Aria Poker Classic
Venetian Deepstack Extravaganza
The World Series of Poker

Oh yeah, I forgot, the World Cup is on too! At the very least we'll have a good pissup but don't expect anything else from England b'cause we've absolutely 0% chance of winning the Tournament. If Serbia win group D then we'll face the Germans on the 26th June. Could this be our last game? Let me know what you think...
Thanks for reading, I'm sure I'll post before we fly.

Still not played much as I'm saving it all for Vegas. I really want to do well over the Atlantic this year and I'm going to play the Binions Classic Main Event (amongst others) I'm choosing this tournament instead of any crapshoot bracelet events with 5,000 runners because it's a 30k stack and an hour clock. Deepstacks are my favourite comps where I've had the most joy so GL me.
Played the 5k added at DTD and got absolutely wrecked, see Dave Garden's blog for the write up. I didnt do very well in that comp so I played the Super 50 on the Sunday. Didn't do too good there either as I was rough as a badgers arse. I lost about £100 all weekend which isn't too bad considering...
I'm going to play a satellite for the UKIPT Nottingham and I might play in the summer series at the end of May in Blackpool. Other than those two, I've no real plans to play any serious poker until then. My first registered cash still eludes me bah...

It's been a rollercoaster fortnight, got back with the ex, split up again (after 2 weeks), played an AWOP Players club satellite and won a seat into Saturdays £110 Deepstack, I played Blackpools Friday night £50 Bigstack and got dry bummed on the river off A9 v my KK. 133 runners and over £2,000 to the winner, I went out in 11th and how's this for a fcukin liberty? The kid that got KO'd in 12th never collected his ticket from the poker desk. I didnt realise until on the way home that I got shafted a place on the money ladder. My own fault OBV.
Played the Deepstack but should of stayed home and played with my sack instead, I was out before the first break. I played another AWOP satellite online Sunday night and a won a £220 GUKPT Summer Series seat, so not too bad all in all.
No plans to play this week but might try and get a game at Blackpool this Sunday as they're running a £75 deepstack starting at 5pm. I will keep you posted.

Well I've hardly played any poker really. Been saving up for Vegas and it's doing my head in. I'm going crazy not playing. I've had to settle for playing shitty micro games to get my fix. I had a home game at my mates house and got totally fcuked over for £150 and they dont really play the fcukin game! I feel like I'm lost at sea ATM.
On the bright side, my Daughter turned 1 year old on the 22nd Feb and She's just brilliant, growing up real fast!
On the 10th April we've got a trip planned to DTD for the £5,000 added and the Super 50 weekend for my friends 40th Birthday. 14 of us, Poker, Beer, Party time!

This post is like a bluey without the money shot.
Now I thought that this event was going to be chaotic, all the forums and stories that I had read about numbers etc... people were definitely expecting the worst. Ian, Dena, Lee and all the G/stars staff were very efficient and professional as always. The tournament ran like a dream and the floorstaff were excellent.

Manchester G
Table 9 seat 4 and I was in the BTN seat which is always a bonus. Sat down at about 13:50, filled in the Pokerstars disclaimer and sucked up the atmosphere. The room was full of all Nationalities, all levels of players and a wide mixture of characters. I was expecting some wild internet play and set out my stall to wait for a big hand and get an early double up.
Pokerstars disclaimer
15,000 starting chips and boy did I have it rough. I spent the first level listening to the table banter and observing players body language and aggression levels. I was focussed and comfortable and settling in nicely. By the end of L1 I had 15,175 and the average was 15,100 losing only 1 player.
Starting stack
Level 2, no major hand info but I end the level on 13,725 and the average was 15,300. We get into L3 and I pick up my first real hand. 75/150 I'm on the BTN with ATs, Cutoff seat raises to 500 he's V aggro and by far one of the biggest aggressors at the table so I opt to flat here. The flop is AK8r, co bets 1,000, I call. The turn is a T, he checks and I bet 1,000. He makes the call and the river is a J, he checks and I check behind. I say "2 pair" as he turns over QQ! baaah!
A few hands later I'm on about 9,000 chips and I pick up AKd in MP. I raise it to 500 PF and the BTN (who's not made a bet all day) 3 bets me to 1500. I quickly re raise him to 3,200 total and he insta shoves his 14,000 stack falling over the line. I have to pass and I'm down to 5,800 and needing some help. I decided to go for a piss and wobble my head. I return and get a massage off one of the girls doing the rounds to help relax me and re-focus. Perfect! until I have to pay the £1/minute for 30 minutes FFS! But jokes apart it seemed to do the trick. I end the level on about 8,000 which is exactly half the average, not quite panic stations just yet.
Michelle Orpe EPT presenter
L4 100/200, I peer over to table 5 and I can see Michelle Orpe's knickers. She's gorgeous, if only! ANYWAY! back to business there's a crucial hand and a turning point to get me back into the game. 7,600 I raise it to 800 with JJ I get 2 callers around the back and then the SB (who didnt like giving it away) raises up to 3,000. On me; everyone is looking at me, "is this it?" I ask myself. No-one likes the fish hooks at the best of times but I suppose when you're short, there's only one answer. "ALL IN!" "4,600 more". The two flatters fold and the SB asks how much? "46 more!" so he calls. To my amazement he turns over 99! No funny business and I rake in a 17,000 chip pot. BREATH OUT MARTIN!
This gives me a bit of confidence and I can start playing again. I make a great call on the river with 44 on a 9TJ32 board, aggressor mucked and I collected a nice pot putting me on 28,000 and the average reading 19k. My battery had gone on my phone but by the time I got some life into it to make some more notes we were on 300/600/75ra average was 30k and I was tinkering around the 34k mark at 2am.
My ever increasing stack
I moved over to Jeff Kimbers table and it was Jeff Kimber's table believe me, he was on about 120,000 and one of the chip leaders. As soon as I sat down directly opposite Charlie Denton (who'd been moaning about not having any luck) He was involved in 3 or 4 MASSIVE hands in quick succession picking up KK v JJ, quad eights and KK into AA amongst a few, putting his stack into 6 figures! "I bring you all the luck Charlie :)" "Yeah, thanks Mart!"
I move again, we're into the last level of the night, I'm on about 25,000 and I pick up KK. The geezer on my right raises up to 6,000 so I move All in. Action folds to him and I just have him covered, he makes the call with JJ. A well timed double up putting me above 50k. I finish day 1b with 56,300 and a big smile on face.
bagged up (hey hey)

Day 2
I get a decent table draw to be fair, seat 9 on table 6, I notice Chris Brammer, Reyaz Mulla and Jack Elwood so let's get it on! I was looking for a double up, average was 70k and the Stars staff announced that they were paying down to 72 players 72nd receiving £800, not bad.

Day 2 from seat 9
I picked up QQ in one of the early levels and that's about it. I didnt get any action, I was bleeding chips and needed to find a good spot to shove in order to maximise the outcome, unless of course I actually pick up a decent hand (which doesnt happen too often).
Day 2 clock
I studied the players and their play, I was looking for a good spot to shove. I figured that 10xBB was the absolute minimum that I needed to get it through. We're down to 76 players I've got about 37,000 blinds are 1,500/3,000/400ra. I'm on the BTN, the SB and BB would fold to a min raise so I knew that my push had to come from there depending on the action before me. 9 handed and play folded to seat 8, my immediate right, which happened to be Jack Elwood (who finished 2nd) He raised up to 7,000 with 8,100 already in the middle and I felt that now was the time no matter what my cards were as Jack had folded to re-pops 3 or 4 times throughout the day. I looked down at J5o and slid my chips over the line announcing "ALL IN!" "36,600 total". Only AA KK and maybe QQ can call me here, the players in the blinds needed a premium to play and Jack defo wouldn't put 30,000 in with TT 99 AK etc... "I call" he says turning over pocket rockets! FML! what great timing! Needless to say I'm off out the door in 75th place just 3 off the money.

Summary
I feel like I played some of the best poker of my whole time playing this game. I made the correct calls, I folded when I needed to, I spotted weakness in players by concentrating more, I made good reads on hands when I wasn't involved. When it came to the crunch and we revealed our hands for an all in situation, I was ahead. I didn't lose a single pot (except the last one) over the 2 days. I suppose I could of waited another 10 hands to try and make the money but if I'd of been in 74th or 73rd and my AA or KK was to get beat off 38 or K6 then it would of been awful. I tried to give myself the best possible chance of winning the game (not min cashing) Is this the correct attitude to have? I think so. Your comments are welcomed, please tell me if I've been a donkey! and your reasons...
Thanks for reading and like I said, there's no money shot at the end. Maybe in the next comp...

80 players made it through day 1a from 228. Last weekends DTD 80k Deepstack winner Rupinder Bedi is the current chip leader on 179,400, closely followed by Chris Brammer - 126,900, Aaron Barry - 114,600, Dean Lloyd - 114,400, Adam Ashworth - 111,200 and Gerald 'Skull Man' David - 92,600
Average chip count is 42,750 and the tournament's first day concluded at 3:45am
I'm playing today at 2pm and with yesterdays epic poker sitting it gives me an insight of what is to come for the next 16 hours. Hopefully I get a nice early double up to take the pressure off and get my stack above the average mark at the end of play.
I'll try and get updates to ya as soon as possible.
